Andante at the European Lay Forum |
|
With Marie-Louise van Wijk-van de Ven, Lasma Latsone and Andrea Kett, three members of the andante Co-ordinating Committee took part in this year’s Assembly of the European Forum of National Laity Committees (ELF) which took place in Bratislava (Slovakia) from1st to 6th July 2008. Whereas Lasma Latsone (Latvia) and Andrea Kett (Germany) represented lay organisations of their own countries, Marie-Louise van Wijk-van de Ven had been invited as a guest in her function as chair of andante. She was given the opportunity to present the main concerns and activities of andante in the context of a greeting and of positioning andante next to other European church organisations like UCESM, CCEE and FAFCE. This presentation led to interesting conversations and made it possible to establish contacts with delegates coming from countries in which andante does not have any member organisation yet. |

A warm 'Welcome!' to the two organisations who recently decided to join Andante: the European Province of SHCJ - the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (with seat in London) and NKKF - Norges Katolske Kvinneforbund (the Norwegian Catholic Women's League). "Applying for membership in your organisation is an expression of our organisation's belief in the values that Andante stands for and a sincere wish to come closer - both in work and thought - to other European women's organisations and their representatives" was given as one of the reasons for their decision. For more information on these two members: see their web sites under 'Andante/member organistaions' in the menu. |
